First steps of Aviation - Metod Vlach

Metoděj Vlach was the first pilot from Czech Republic who constructed and flown his own plane. Born in 1887 in his early life he new his way around trains and engines. In 1908 Vlach build his first biplane which was never finished. His second plane was built in 1909. This biplane managed to fly for 50 meters, but as a first functional plane it was considered as success and a step to right direction. In 1912 his biplane managed to fly for 500 meters in a speed 100km/h. Unfortunately his experiments were brought to an end with the start of the First World War. Who knows what Metoděj Vlach could have achieved if he continued in his experiments, but even though he did not continued he made history.
