A Versatile British aircraft of World War II
The Legendary aircraft was developed in the late 1930s designers cleverly adapted existing Bristol Beaufort components to create a powerful new fighter that could be produced relatively quickly. The Beaufighter was designed as a multi-role fighter capable performing as a heavy fighter and as a torpedo bomber for the Royal Air Force. Powered by two Rolls Royce Merlin engines the aircraft was capable of carrying heavy torpedoes and machine guns at a speed of 510 km/h. The Beaufighter entered service in 1940 and ended in 1960 with nearly six thousand aircrafts built by that time.
