VTOL V-22 OSPREY
The US Air Force had a need for transport aircraft with vertical take-off capabilities and high speed for quick rescue operations and deployment of troops. BELL and BOEING had an answer with the V-22 OSPREY. In 1989 the first prototypes were built, some functioning just as a helicopter and some as a conventional aircraft. It took several years and billions of dollars to finalize the project but in 2007 the aircraft was put in to production and service in the US Air Force and Navy. V-22 is one of the most unique looking military aircrafts with incredible capabilities. The aircraft is in service to this day with several variations and around 400 aircrafts built.
