The Fastest Aircraft Ever Built

In the early 2000s NASA was testing their new unmanned aircraft the X-43, with the X standing for experimental. The X series aircrafts are prototypes which are meant to test new technologies in aviation. In 2001 NASA had the first test of the X-43 which was carried in to the air by B-52, but the test was unsucsesful. The second test was in 2004 with a success where the X-43 reached the speed of MACH 6.83 or 7500 km/h. Several months later of the same year NASA made a third test with a new version of the X-43. In this test the aircraft reached the incredible speed of MACH 9.68 or 11.500 km/h and making it the fastest aircraft ever built.
