First aircraft powered by a jet engine
A German company Heinkel has created the first aircraft to be powerd by a jet engine, the Heinkel He 178. This aircraft had it`s first flight in August of 1939. The pilot of this test flight was Erich Warsitz and described the aircraft as slow, but in higher altitude it flown much faster. The flight was an incredible success and everything worked as it should. Even though the flight was a success, when the Heinkel He 178 was demonstrated to the Luftwaffe, noone was impressed because of it`s slow speed and very short time the aircraft can be in the air.
